ALWAYS turn your drum on its very own hub. Do not mix them.

Drums and hubs should be turned as matched sets. Do NOT turn drums without hubs. Yes, all the hubs are supposed to be the same, and yes, all the drums are supposed to be the same, but they are not.

I say this for two reasons, one being my experience turning these drums, both with and without hubs, and also from seven years experience working for a company that, among other things, manufactured drum and rotor lathes.

Do not lose the established relationships that exist between hubs and drums. I guarantee you that if you turn a drum on one hub until it is true, and then mount it on another one of your hubs, then check it with a dial indicator, you will have runout, and you may have a lot of runout.

Always always always turn your drum on its very own hub.
