O.T.-Used Cummins Diesels

Looking at buying a used Dodge truck with the 5.9 Cummins Diesel to pull the WM300. Never had a diesel before, thinking about taking the truck to a authorized Cummins dealer before buying to diagnose and evaluate the engine. What should I be asking and looking for when buying a used diesel and what would Cummins be doing to it?? Thanks, but not sure what to do.
