We had a recently rebuit mopar 400 in our shop a few months ago that turned out to be just new bearing inserts with out regrinding the crank. The youthful owner had gotten a deal on the rebuild or so he thought. Under the premise the engine had acutally been rebuit, we attempted to get it running and decent oil pressure. When we checked with a local motor shop they told us that frequently a plug is left out of the oil galley near the distributor. This can be viewed through the distributor hole after removing the distributor. The symptoms are oil pressure when cold, but falling off as the oil warms. This was an unknown oil galley plug to us so we checked. This engine it turns out had only had new bearings installed and rings without even breaking the old glaze and it did not appear to have been hot tanked or any thing like that. It was even leaking through rusted out freeze plugs. All I can suggest is to check the plug inside near the dist. Bob
