My name is Ross Bartlett. I had the original idea of a Dodge meet in southern California, but I have asked Bill Cooke of Offroad Exchange to actually lead the event once we get there because I don't know what I'm doing, besides rabble rousing. I had originally planned a "Gathering of Rams". However, due to the many requests from Power Wagon and Town Wagon owners not to have such an exclusive name, we decided to call it "Dodge City, USA", Borrego. Cole Quinnel and Christian Hazel of Petersen's 4Wheel & Off-Road magazine have given the Dodge owners a great deal of support. Christian drives a Ramcharger himself. Bill Cooke also drives a Dodge truck, as well as a Jeep. We have changed our name to include all of you Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler drivers (well, at least all Dodges. Sorry couldn't come up with a name to include the rest of Chryslers). We use "Dodge City" only because it has a "ring" to it (although not very original), and we can play it up. Cole and Christian have suggested we have an annual event. We would like to have it at a different site each year, or even semi-annually. As Gary Robertson has told you, we would like the next one to be in Colorado, as southern California is kind of in the fartherest little corner of the US of A, and not that accessible to most people. We also have contact with Townies and Ramchargers who might host a meet in AZ. This is the purpose of the meet in Borrego. We have to start somewhere--to plan future events. We would like you to come and include your ideas, including sites for the future. If you send me the info, I would like to attend your meeting, just to meet you and talk up the plans for the future. I have several out of town "Townies" coming to Borrego. I understand your reluctance to change your date, and if you can't, you can't. However, Cole Q. can only be with us on March 18 & 19, and we very much want him, and Christian, to be with us. I am not a knowledgeable gear head, which is exactly why I started all this fuss in the first place. I inherited a 79 Ramcharger on an unpaid debt. When I went to look for help in the mags, I found there is almost NONE. What's worse, most of the editors don't care, and give you every excuse they can think of NOT TO INCLUDE anything Dodge. That's why we are acting on Cole's terms. He is different than the rest. Please, if there is any way you can be with us, email me at dzrtram@yahoo.com and let's talk. This could be the beginning of Dodge events for the new century. Also, check out Bill Cooke's Dodge and Halloween run site at http://www.offroadexchange.com/othernews.htm He also has a very excellent Dodge tech site at http://www.offroadexchange.com/_modDodg/dodge.htm Hope to hear from you. Ross
