First i would hook up a pressure gage where the
sender is installed.If you have only 8 psi with
another gage you have to believe it. Next i
would check the pressure relief valve,the manual
showes the location and the proper way it should
look.It might be assembled wrong, or they can
stick in an open position. If this don't solve
the problem drop the oil pan and check the oil
screen and pickup tube. There is a tube that
transfers oil pressure from one side of the block
to the other. This tube must be tight in the
fittings or your oil pressure will be low. When
we assembled an engin 3weeks ago we had this
problem. The fitting was damaged at the machine
shop, and appeared tight. When started, the oil
pressure went to 60 psi and dropped back to
about 8 psi.Good luck with your trouble shooting.
