Since my early teens, I used to read Four Wheeler's Techline, by Willy Worthy and the subject of converting a 2 wheel drive vehicle to a four wheel drive. An overwhelming majority of the responses were to simply be happy with the truck they had, or sell it and purchase a 4wd...the expense and time were not worth it. I am suspecting the converse is true.
If my memory serves me correct, the frames on the 2 and 4 wheel drive trucks differed in the front end...mainly due to the 2 wheel drive's independant front suspension components.
The have known of individuals who put the body of a 4WD truck on the frame of a 2WD, and have heard that this was and is the easiest way of going about this. Mind you, this is only second hand information...I have never done this...never really fathomed it to be totally honest. I was the kid who in the 4th grade tried to convince the principal that my school bus needed to be converted to 4Wd......
