Your customer claims your man told him that he had inspected the unit internally and found it to be good. You say this does no good and you don't do it.
What you didn't say was if your man actually did this, and mislead the customer, and if true, what you are going to do about it.
THAT is the focal point of the problem, not whether the transfer caess are cores or not.
