Allan, heres what I have, I uncovered a old dodge junkyard here in the states a few weeks ago. After 8 loads of parts out of there to my house I figure out that I have enough parts to build a 1/2 ton truck including all the sheet metal. The motor I have is a chrysler industrial 230. The 1/2 ton frame I have is missing the bellhousing mounting brackets and the only bellhousing I have is from a 3/4 ton which is essentialy the same as the 1 ton PW. The motor will mount on the bellhousing but even with the correct 1/2 to brackets it wont mount to the frame. apparently the brake pedal on a 1/2 ton mounts to the bellhousing. on the 3/4 ton and PW it mounts to the frame bracket that the bellhousing mounts on. Are you confused yet? Imagine me looking at a pile of parts and trying to figure out what goes where. A 1/2 ton frame is very diffrent from the others. If you look at a 1/2 to it looks as if the body sits a few inches higher than the 3/4 ton or PW.
I am restoring a WDX to original and it has 5.83's, I have a basket case 3/4 ton that is essentialy the farm tractor as it has a gin pole and snowplow on the front and a bomb hoist on the back. I would like to put something together that I can drive to work every once in awhile, take on the trails fishing, and customize to my liking. This 1/2 ton has 4.89's, a closed cab and since I'm assembling it peice by peice I can do things like put dual exaust and dual carbs on it. Make it more user friendly so to speak. What experience have people had with the Isky camshaft? Be honest now, I have heard of reliability problems with the Hi-pro cam. I work on the 1/2 ton while I'm waiting for parts for the WDX.
Anyway that's what's up at the Dodge ranch (although with all these parts and half built rigs around my wife says it looks like the Mopar morgue!). The only trucks around are 3/4 tons to go by when I cant figger' out how the 1/2 tons are put together. I dont know about Down Under but the last resort in the U.S. is to look at the manual for the truck. I got a WC-51 (no motor) for a friend and we are trying to figure out how to put a 360 in it, wheres the manual for that! As for your problem, it sounds as if someone has fabricated motor mounts for your rig and they did'nt put them in in the correct place, or they tried to use 3/4 ton mounts. Describe hou the brake assy. works and that may give us a better idea of what you are looking at. Good luck.
