There were around 15,000 made, not 2200. This erroneous number comes from one of the versions of the manuals, which only shows one of the contracts. The funny looking panel next to the radiator is not a tool box- it is the air cleaner compartment. The tool box on the cargo is an integral part of the bed, accessed from under the tail gate. The bomb truck has a large tool and equipment box which sits on the left side of the bed, forward of the rear wheel. The windshield is not offset- it is centered on the frame. The passenger seat is offset in order to allow the occupant some leg room, and actually is made to face the driver, not forward as is often found- I guess all the stares from hitchhikers gave the drivers the creeps, and they shifted the seats around. Parts are not impossible to find. There are actually lots of them around. As for performance, the truck definitely exceeds the Weapons Carriers, and is much lighter than the other 1.5 ton class military vehicles. Overall, a forward looking design.
