GMC used model codes like CCKW for their WW2 2 1/2 ton 6x6. What did the letters stand for? The K evidently stood for a driving front axle, because the 6x4 clone of the CCKW is merely the CCW.

Other trucks were the AFW, AFWX, ACKX, AFK, AFKWX. Also were numeral ID following the code letters, as in CCKW-352 and CCKW-353, AFKWX-353, etc.

I have picture ID to go with the codes, so ID'ing the trucks are not a problem. Just deciphering what the codes meant. Can anyone help?
