I have a 1970 W-300 with big block and 4.88 gears. Since jobs are taking me farther afield these days and since I often pull a 7000lb trailer, a gear vendors overdrive would seem to offer good gearing options. The manufacturer claimsthat my driveshaft length [45.5"] is adequate and the removal of 14" for the unit will pose no problems with excessive driveline angle causing u-joint "fight". The truck has the stockmounting angles of six degrees and driveshaft angle unloaded of 14 degrees, for a net working angle of 8 degrees. to me this already seems like a lot and to shorten the the shaft, and further increase the angles, sounds like a formula for vibration and rapid u-joint wear. Has anyone out there tried this in a unit of similar dimensions....Will it work? Thanks
