On the question of sandblasting versus chemicals, I would go with sand blasting as it's cheaper, doesn't leave a residue, and it's easier to find someone to do. It depends on what kind of parts you are planning to strip, really. Delicate parts can be damaged or deformed by the air pressure used in sandblasting.

To further complicate matters, there is more than just sandblasting. Other abrasives are also used, such as glass beads (similar to sand), baking soda, plastic, and even walnut shells. Sandblasting with sand or grit is great for removing rust and old paint from thick metal like on a Power Wagon. The other items can be used to strip paint from aluminum body pieces, chrome, or other types of metals.
