Charlie,
Thanks for the pile of info. No I haven't actually done 104mph. When I bought it, the beast had worn 12.50-16.5-35" BFG mud terrains (radials), rusty out of balance white spokes and I was doing 85mph indicated which is slighly over 90mph and the girlfriend didn't even notice we were about to die. No really, quite smooth and pulling maybe 3800 to 3900rpm. You can run all day there... the max govered rpm is 3900. I've calculated the 104 from my new BFG 33" with new Eaton (Bart Racing) Wheels. Haven't done the speed run yet. I'm gettin 12mpg at 60mph now and like to keep it that way. Some other TWPW owners have told me they've done 100mph. Feels like it's about to blow up near 4000rpm, but some say it's no problem.

My Intermediate drive shaft is real short, not like the W300s, so the simple thing is the 540D swap. This 540 I know of is still bolted to a 315 poly so I'm hoping it is a straight swap. I'd like to have the 1st-7.41:1 2nd-4.05:1 3rd-2.40:1 4th-1.48:1 5th-1.00:1 Rev-7.85:1 Ratio set which is what is showiing in my 1960 Dodge Manuel. It would give me a 60:1 low gear and let me do 3450 in 4th, instead of 3870 in 3rd at 55mph. The NP435 specs are great, that helps alot. the only other thing is input shaft spline count. I think the 435 is 10 spline. Are the 540s 10 or are there many different ones?
Thanks Charlie for your wealth of knowledge,
Gary
