A friend of mine did that when she was in high school and nieve about the world. Seems she and a girlfriend put a red bulb in their front porch light as a joke and couldn't understand why these truck drivers and other men were knocking on her door. It was "explained" to her and she turned as redfaced as the bulb. The light was quickly changed.
