I agree fully, or a careless second can stay with you for the rest of your life. To stay on this morbid thread, I heard of a guy, the uncle of one of my scouts, was working alone in his shop, prefabbing a shelter to be erected on the Long Trail. Somehow, a saw kicked back and he hit his femoral artery and bled out before he could get to a phone. He ran a sawmill and was very competent with tools. One split second.
