Hi Paul,
I did a bathroom jobfor a lady a few years ago. She was missing her ring finger. She fell down and put her hand out to catch herself and caught her ring on the head of a sheetrock screw in a screen door. A classic degloving. The doctors removed the entire bone and moved her pinky over so her hand at a glance looked normal. Just a bit narrower and shy one digit. Pretty amazing. I have a missing ring finger but it was a table saw and no ring involved. Saws are not very forgiving either.
