When I bought my 1966-WM-300 it came without the original 251L-Head 6. It came with a 251 that was out of a 1960's era Dodge Fire truck. It seemed a perfect match, until it was time for the instalation. The 251 out of the fire truck still had it's flywheel housing with a 6-volt foot actuated starter, since my truck still had it's original transmission, flywheel and housing with a 12-volt starter. I just used them on the 251 from the fire truck. One major problem was soon discovered. While the new motor did bolt up fine, the motor from the fire truck had an unusual oil filter housing that bolted to the block. The 12 volt starter would not mount on the engine because it was 2 inches longer than the 6 volt starter that came with the motor. No problem (I thought) I'll use the original type remote cannister filter that would have come with a power wagon 251. So I found one, installed it with it's small copper lines and the key acutated starter. It fit perfectly. All seemed well, until the motor in short order spun the front bearings. Not realizing why I had the motor rebuilt, and again in a few weeks, lost the bearings at the front of the motor. Why? The motor from the fire truck had a full flow oil filter that required all the oil pass through it before reaching the front bearings. The remote original power wagon oil filter lines were too small not allowing enough oil to reach the front of the engine. So here is my question:
WHERE CAN I FIND A REMOTE FULL FLOW OIL FILTER THAT WILL MOUNT TO THE BLOCK SIMILAR TO THE ONES ON THE ISRAELY REBUILT MOTORS FEATURED AT "VINTAGE POWER WAGONS"????
