That statement tells me this man was going to pull a scam on you. Yeah, you sign the title, send it to him and then he will pay in full, right!! He would've taken the title, had it transferred to his name, and would've then said that whatever he paid you thus far was the agreed upon full price. He would have gotten away with it too more than likely. There would've been no way you could have refuted his claim. It would have wound up in court as a "I said this, and he said that" issue, that would've been tossed out with no contest. He would have the truck and you would be out the rest of the money owed.
I would've done the same thing as you, only I would have made him pay the full amount upfront. I had to do that when I bought my M37. I paid the guy the full amount, and he sent me the title the minute the check cleared. Thats the way it works.
This bum was a scam artist. Good thing you got him tied up. Now the tables have turned and he's the one in the fix. Good, I like it when the bad guy gets a dose of his own medicine .
