49 B-1-PW Carb and gov questions

I am overhauling a carb and have two questions.

1. How where these carbs finished? I find traces of gold on the pot metal parts, but can't tell what color the iron throttle dody was.

2. Is there suppose to be some sort of lube in the governor?

Also I must say that the VPW carb rebuild kit is the most complete kit I have ever had.
