One more easy thing -- check for vacuum leaks. The easiest way is take a propane torch, take off the burner, slip a couple feet of vacuum hose over the end, open the valve a bit, and blow propane around all the places where vacuum could leak such as manifold gaskets, any vacuum actuators such as distributor advance, etc. If there's a leak, propane will get sucked in through it and will make the engine speed up.
