I come from a small town at the very tip of Long Island, NY,that remains staunchly Republican. However we are a part of the East Hampton township which is dominated by NYC liberals. I grew up with a very Republican household...that stood up for Nixon..which I raged against. However as I grew up and fell for Reagan, and lean to the right of center.
My minor league baseball coach lost both of his legs in Vietnam during Combat and came home to become an important figure in NY state politics, appointed by Gov. Pataki to the NYS director of Veteran affairs. He wrote a scathing letter to the Editor of the extremely liberal East Hampton Star newspaper 2 or 3 weeks ago which harpooned Kerry. John Behan has known Kerry for years; he feels that Kerry represented the worst.
