Make sure there is no weight on it at all.

Buy NEW pins and bronze bushes before you start. (VPW)

Screw in a plain bolt, or better yet, a large reverse-thread screw extractor (my favourite - works every time) (By the way, though the threads are tapered, the pipe thread is just a tapered version of the plain bolt thread so a bolt will go in far enough to work)

... and the final trick - rotate the pin as you pull it. They get ledges worn on the pins which will absolutely stop you if you try a straight pull, but if you pull and turn they'll come out every time.
