Hi Art,
Thanks for the kind words, I don't see the responses as a storm as much as it is an outpouring of emotion over a truck that we all love and care about. Regardless of our perspectives, the Original Power Wagon speaks to us all, about quality, ruggedness, and the unbridled American Spirit that created it. There is bound to be emotion because we all realize it is a symbol of a day that has passed and we lament it's passing. We can't turn back the clock, but we can express our displeasure as to why the clock moved.
I guess the best we can do is to remain around to be sure that these trucks live on as they were originally intended.
I'm glad that Dodge saw fit to bring back the name and bring it back in more than just badging. It is a disappointment that it wasn't the Power Wagon Concept truck, but there are no reasons that it cannot evolve into that truck in the future.
Lastly, I too remember, and kick myself for passing on, the new '68 WM300's when they were still at the dealers. I was into Jeeps then, for much the same reason that I like Dodges. In 1968, my best friend and I bought a '42 WC53 for $750 dollars and it was a daily driver, it was only 26 years old at the time and in perfect condition. I can still smell the interior and hear it running when I close my eyes....
