Two motor/drivetrain questions

The first is my 58 is dieing since the weather is changing. It is getting colder and when she idles down she will die? Plus I still have a mid RPM miss that I haven't been able to remedy yet. Could my fuel pump or carb be the culprit?

Second, I have a shudder when taking off in first gear. It is only in first and when I am taking off. I have tried everything from feathering the clutch more to dumping it with lots of gas. Shudders no matter what. Any guesses?
