the light is telling you something is wrong!,its not a maintaince needed light!,to keep it off the problem needs fixed,it doesnt have to be a dealer to fix it,any shop that has a snap on code scanner can pinpoint the problem,if you unhook the battery,it will clear the memory till the problem arrises again,it could be anything from a gas cap not tight to a bad alternator
