I had a fuel pump where the pin kept sliding out so I finally ground an 1/8 of an inch off the end of it so that once I installed it back into the body, I could peen over the ends of the pin so that it would be impossible for it to slie back out. If you need to work on it in the future you just need a small punch to push the pin back out. Hope this helps.
