This is my first post, though I’ve been lurking for quite some time.
One of my trucks has a pretty bad oil leak I’m hoping someone will have some advice on. This is on a 318 poly in a 64 W300. It appears that oil is leaking between the metal plate, which the oil filter spins onto and seals against, and the engine block, (plate is recessed into block). Is there a gasket between the plate and block? In trying to remove the plate, I tried to remove the threaded fitting which the filter screws onto, without any luck. I did manage to slightly round the hex head on the fitting and gave up while I was ahead. Is there a trick to getting this fitting out? Are replacement fittings readily available through parts stores or vintage parts suppliers?
