Lug Nug Removal ????s

I have both a 1 1/2" socket with a 1/2" drive and a Craftsman 1 1/2" wrench. Neither will fit on the front lug nuts due to interference with the front hub (both are too thick to fit between the hub and the lug nuts). What do you guys use to get the lug nuts off? I am considering taking the socket and wrench to a machine shop to get a little of the outside diameter off, so they will fit. Any other manufacturers make a tool that will work? Thanks!
