All my forums are sitting on Server.Com hardware, and they are forever adding popups and advert links that I have no control over.
There is an option to PAY for the server capacity and then they say the adverts disappear, but I suspect the 'ad-ware' stuff that might be causing you a problem stays right where it is and keeps going.
The WW2 Dodge Forum probably has most hits and the nice people at Server.Com probably load it with the most ads. Want to bet if I complain they will just suggest I pay to lose the ads?
When I open it I get one popup which my blocker stops and one banner ad below the heading, and that's it.
Since I have five forums sitting on Server.Com hardware I can't really consider paying the cash to take the ads off there as it would add up to a pile of money. One generous forum contributor did pay to lose them on the GMC Forum for a three month perios but I found the rest of it as invasive as ever.
Long-term if I can do it I'll move the forums to somewhere I can control, but I don't have the knowledge or the cash to do that at the minute.
I can only apologise for the inconvenience, and suggest that unfortunately we really need to have not only virus software on our PCs these days, but also popup blockers (I use Meara ) and a bug-killer like Spybot too.
