Went on a drug interdiction det to La Paz Mexico years ago. While the crew was out i went looking around this old airport we flew out of. Along the back of an old hanger in the weeds were 4 Pratt and Whitney R4360 Radials mounted on there QEC stands.I could'nt believe it!!

The 4.360 cubic inch 28 cylinder radial had 4 banks of 7 cylinders. Two plugs per cylinder 56 plugs . Made about i horse power per cubic inch. Unfortunatley it weighd more than 1 lb. per horse power. I got a jug and a master rod out of that engine. Could not believe someone left it out there.

You got me reminising. I got a prop from an Ad1 spad, Flying dump truck in my living room, Navy junked these in the 70,s. Snooped around on a Curtiss C46 Commando and a Corsair, and remanents of a P-40 on Guam.Adak had pieces of aircraft all around, rough place for aircraft.I think on Attu we could see from the air a B24 liberator that had crashlanded there in WW2,it was actually used as a navigational aid. Fairbanks had a B-29 that crashed in the lake there on base, supposedly you could see the tail sticking up out of the water when the tide was low,it never was when i was there.

Power wagon content? Midway island had an entire reef made up of,i would guess?? a couple of hundred Wc and 6x6 trucks that were just started up and drove into the water, just to avoid the paperwork. Good day Lucian
