use some 2000 grit sand paper and lots of water to wet sand it gently until you get down to the insignia. Usually in the right light if you look across the door panel you can start to read what was on there as it is slightly raised. I used a sharpie black pen and outlined the edges to be able to see what was on my doors. It doesn't always work but you never know.
