Both the VPW and Roberts fuel sender that I bought for my 49 B1PW leaked air when I pressure tested the tank. The VPW unit is made out of some tube closed with freeze plugs. It leaked at both the freeze plugs and the terminals. You can't tighten the terminals because you can't get to the back side. Maybe you could use wicking locktite on the terminals and freeze plugs.- I don't know for sure.

The roberts unit rivets together and there is no gasket between the halves. You have to drill the rivets out and install a gasket, but it is fixable. Another nice thing about the Roberts unit - it looks like you could put the original top over the Roberts top. That would look more original.

I guess there is a possability fuel senders are suppose to leak.
