Superwinch makes a long set of wires and a connector for running a winch from truck battery in front of vehicle to winch on trailer. about 75 bucks. You could make your own with welding cables. On my cummins diesel with 2 batteries, that's a lot of winching available and no worries about a charged battery.
I mounted a 2 inch reciever on my trailer for the winch and put the winch on a matching mount. This allows me to use the winch on the back of my truck or on my trailer. I store the winch in my workshop when not in use. I have debated making a front receiver mount for a couple of my trucks for the same winch.
