You can extend the foot start rod up about 12" or so and make a brackett the bolt's up under your dash (like the brackett for the choke rod on early power wagons). this put the starter pedal up, where you can push dwn on it with the palm of your hand. So there you have the best of all worlds. Both feet for the pedals, and no solenoid.
The truck I had with that set up, used a spare shifter knob on the end of the rod.
