OK folks, here is one for you. I am in the process of swapping transmissions. Bought an NP-420 to replace a very worn 420. The engine and transmission are back in the truck but not finished putting everything back. I tried running it through the gears and went to where third was on my old tranny and could not find the gear. First was also much further from the dash than the old one. I would actually shut off the lights going into first with the old one. Now I am 1 1/2" from the pulled out light switch in first. I then found third, Very cloose to first (in front of the choke knob) and quite a bit further from the dash than first. Are 1st and second offset from 3rd and 4th? They didnt seem to be in the old one but there was so much play they might have been and I didnt notice. I didnt realise that 1st and 3rd were so close together also. Is this correct?
