Are you sure the spindle is bent?

What you describe sounds more like you are not getting the axle splines lined up.

If you can get the bearings, etc back on, your spindle can not be that bent.

Rememeber, the axle shaft has to get into the carrier, and the splines have to line up to do that.

Lift, twist, etc the axle shaft, and it should line up with the side gears in the carrier. then once that is in, spin the drum to get the studs in the drum/hub to line up with the holes in the flange on the axle shaft.

What you are describing as a problem does not sound like the spindle to me. The spindle is tapered, that could make it look bent.

If the spindle is bent, then you should change the axle anyway to be safe.

If memory serves, the spindle is part of the Dana/Spicer 60 axle housing, and so instead of just getting a new housing, you might as well just get a whole new axle.
