Last I heard, the utiline bed has the side walls
inside the wheel wells (fenders), with or
without running boards outside the bed forward /
aft of the fenders. The alternative bed is
refered to as sweptline in which the side walls
are contoured to the outside of the cab and wheel
wells leaving recessed pockets inside the bed
forward / aft of the wheel wells. Other
manufacturers use different names (i.e. chevy:
stepside rather than utiline).

Older trucks (picture at top of page) typically
have utiline beds while modern trucks are mostly
sweptline beds.
