Combat rims: Bottom line Safer!

All the things Brian said, but I just saw the photo's of the pool of blood from a soldier killed while filling a Hemmett split rim tire with air.
The only way for a combat rim to explosively come off would be to take the bolts off first. I could care about the extra weight. I can run 62mph with Combat rims unbalanced, before they start to vibrate too much for control. (430 ratio's/original but not wound out engine)
If your getting a WWII vehicle, the combats are perfect. If you want another vehicle, let someone else service the tires. As a minimum use a clip on air chuck and a hose with a valve that lets you fill it from at least 10 feet away to the side, with no one down range. It's rare, but they do kill people, even today..
