Also, if your gonna work on it, get the manuals from portrayal, or somewhere (http://www.portrayal.com). You should look at Operation and maintenance #TM9-8030, supplement to above,#CH-8030, Engine and clutch, #TM9-1840A, Power train, body and frame, #TM-8031-2, supplement to above, #CH-8031-2. Most important Op. & maint., after that TM-8031-2, and then TM9-1840A. There's more, but those will do for starters.

Another good forum just for m-37's is located here: http://www.bigelectric.com/

There have been some complaints about unlockable hubs failing under very heavy use. I would'nt let that stop me, if I was driving mine much. I also would always carry the original drive hubs when offroading though... If you get it running good and do decide to offroad it, get a spare set of rear axles at least. Assuming yours are old and used, you will eventually break them.

Brian is right about top speed, I would add that 45 is top sustainable, and 55 is emergency max. A well built and balanced 230 (what yours should have if it's original) will probably run 55mph for awhile, but an older, unbalanced engine will not sustain that rate for long. It will probably break.

Good luck, welcome to the family.

John
