OK, I have the tech manual open in front of me and am not relying on memory.

The sparkplug is on the edge. A fat dowel will foul. A skinny rod at an angle will work if you are careful.

However, the Timing Indicator Tool I spoke of that senses the top of the pston fits into a removable plug over the #6 cylinder. Of course, that won't do you any good for checking #1 or #2.

For #1 or #2, use a long, stiff, thin rod and angle it. It may not work on an engine below 217 cu in (smaller bore). Angle it from the passenger side going down towards the drivers side.

Failing that, put a compression gage into the plug hole. If you get indications of pressure, then the piston has to be moving.
