Use a 6v starter with a 12v truck?

Hi guys, it's me again. I seem to recall something in a previous post about being able to use a 6 volt starter in a 12 volt system. Generator, coil, bulbs, and battery do need to be changed, though.

Am I right or am I dreaming?
