Not knowing the rules and regulations concerning this situation I still am amazed that there would be an all powerful government body that would watch and oversee these particular trucks being scrapped. Why can't the gentleman trade them for scrap of a like value? Could he not sell them to another recycler, and if so why does he have to smash or destroy them? I see scrap change hands in my state without changing it's form. This dealer buys it, sells it to another and so on. I see whole vehicles being transported, the smashing seems to be for economics, more weight in less space. I think it might just be easier for the scrap dealer to simply smash it up and load it in a truck than pick out four trucks for a person who is intelligent enough to appreciate their value, either for historical or aesthetic reasons.
