{{Thought it was vapor lock but even on cooler days this happened. It really coughed and died going up hills so I blew out the fuel lines, cleaned the filters and even replaced the fuel pump.
Ran well for a day but then back to the same. Could this be due to sediment in the tank or something else??>>

I had a car do this once. I rebuilt the carb., replaced all the filters and it would act up like this. After awhile, it got to where it didn't want to accelerate unless you pumped the gas pedal. I couldn't find a replacement mechanical fuel pump so I put an electric one on it. I was rather proud of my work as it looked like it belonged there.
When I first fired it up though, fuel leaked out of about a dozen rust holes in the steel lines. Check your lines for rust and the rubber lines for dry rot. If you have just one pin hole, that you won't notice unless you're looking for it, the pump will suck air instead of fuel. The pump will eventually overcome the lack but it's a strain and will shortnen the life of the diaphrams
