I have gotten sending units for my 1949 B1-pw from both VPW and Roberts. Both units leaked when pressure tested. The Roberts unit was easier to repair: drill out the three rivets, put in a gasket, install it. The VPW unit is pressed together. I could not figure a way to seal it. It leaked at the juntion of the pressed together parts and at the wire junctions.
The way the Roberts unit is built, I think they will all leak. The VPW unit looked like it my be possible to get one that doesn't leak. I don't know what portion of them leak, just that mine did. If VPW agrees, you could probably keep trying their units until you get one that does not leak.
