The economy is their real concern.The government gets more tax money from sales just as the business world does so, get the older cars off the road that you can maintain yourself and the auto manufacturers sell another car, banks loan the money, dealerships get to work on it (becuse you no longer can), the state gets more revenue by charging more for new car tags+sales tax, the insurance company now sells higher priced full coverage instead of the lower cost liability insurance most folks only carry on older vehicles. So you see how the economy plays a big hand in eliminating older vehicles and the means devised to make us spend more money so that when everyone else profits from us spending money, the government profits from each of them also.
I believe the ancient concept is known as,
GREED !
