Here in Michigan, if you own a single wheel pickup your fine. Once you start with a dually, and then the DOT starts to get on you. If you run a Dually pickup, your fine...BUT If you put a trailer hitch on the dually (or even a hitch ball on the back bumper) then they classify it as a 'work truck' and then you start getting in trouble. I used to run 1 ton duallys for scrappin' and stuff, but anymore, I have no desire to go any larger than a Single rear wheel 1 ton pickup.

As for larger trucks with antique tags, I can put a Deuce and a half or a 5 ton, or a WWII "Dragon Wagon" tank transporter on an antique tag and be OK. I wont have to have it weighed and it costs $35 and the tag is good for 10 years.

BUT the rules for the antique plates is that the vehicle has to be atleast 25 years old, and You can only run it on the road for shows, parades, club events, or to a repair facility. Actually, it all depends on the local police officers in charge in the area, as some are quite leaniant to not saying anything if they see you drive your antique plated truck to work once every two weeks. But your not supposed to tho.

We have 2 classifications for antique plates, You have the standard atique plate which is good for 10 years or there is the Authentic plate, which is a Michigan plate, the same year as the vehicle, and the cost on that is $35 and is good either untill you no longer own the vehicle and or the vehicle is scrapped.
