Listen to all the advice and follow it. Two years ago I towed a Honda car on a trailer behind a 2000 Dodge Dakota. Pulling and stopping was never a problem. I felt confident with the truck and the load. The problem came when I was returning, with an EMPTY trailer, and blew the right rear tire on the Dakota at 70. Because the Dakota was too light and didn't have the trailer brake connection, we jack-knifed and rolled 1 1/4 times. The Dakota was totaled and the insurance company helped me buy a new truck, a 3/4 ton '03 Dodge Cummins. And I now have the electric brake controls. Sometimes it works, but if you have any problems, you want plenty of truck and you want working brakes on the trailer.
