Marty's right. If it were not for the Corvette/GTO/Mustang crowd and their obsession with matching numbers, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. If it weren't for Eric's T137 page, (and others' fine research) most of us who buy these old beasts wouldn't know about the various engines.

We are not dealing with '70's muscle, but with 50's farm/utilitarian/construction machinery. In that environment, an engine swap was considered business as usual.

My recently bought, amateur restoration PW is a '54, bought from the original owner, and never had an engine swap, and the engine # can only be certified as being "within the proper range" according to the experts. So, you may never know EXACTLY what engine was originally in the truck, anyway.

Yours looks like a great restoration, and easily worth $10K more than you paid for it, here in the NYC area.

We are all amazed at how high a price these old trucks can fetch. I bought mine on Ebay, and was offered twice what I paid, before I even saw the truck in person. The guy transporting it from the West Coast to NY received several offers of cash, he reports. Don't worry...be happy.
