Dodge didn't make changes by year, they just kept going until they ran out of parts, but the "Letter" stamp next to the 318 (number pad is machined and stamped just below the left [drivers side] head, facing the front of the motor) is a good way to ID the year. There is also a "born-on" date on the right side (passenger) between the fuel pump and oil filter, cast into the block. Motors that are not original equipment may not have that stamp, as a few factory replacement blocks are un-stamped.
