I bought a '91 W250 4X4 just after the first of the year. I really like and enjoy the truck. It does have its quirks, but what do you expect for a 13+ year old truck. For pretty much any first gen truck you buy, be prepared to spend a few hundred to get it decent, as most of these trucks have been worked hard, and while most guys take good care of them, they still need some work done. If you go 4X4, expect the steering shaft to be shot, but this can be fixed by going with a Borgesen replacement unit, the steering boxes wear out. The electrical systems on these trucks get quite quirky, make shure all grounds are intact. Any older truck you buy, even a $10,000. cream puff, will need some attention. Once you get all that outta the way, you will have a nice truck. My truck rides quite ruff, not as ruff a 46-68 FFPW, but it being a 3/4 ton 4X4 with straight axle, leaf springs, 10 ply tires, it will bounce you...But then again, its a REAL TRUCK, not some cupcake truck. As compared to a 2wd of this era, the Cummins trucks ride ruff either way, but since you have all that engine weight up front, they do tend to bounce quite a bit in the rear. I personally dont care for duallys anymore. Here in Michigan, if a DOT officer see's a trailer hitch on a dually, then they will pull you over. I try to stick with a single wheel 1 ton, or a heavy 3/4 ton. I like how a dually tows, but the laws up here on duallys get very strict anymore. While your at it, get a subsciption to the TDR. Enjoy!
